Applicants notified of admission: Early December 2017 and on a rolling admissions basis until the class is filled.

CLASSES START: February 2018

Class of 2017 application period has ended. Check back for 2018 class information in the fall 2017.

Requirements for admission include:

  • Dedication to a full-time or part-time farming career
  • A commitment to participate in 7-10 hours of training per week
  • Transportation to attend classes near Winters, CA and at other nearby locations
  • Some previous experience with farming is preferred. Classes and activities are conducted in English

The cost of the seven-month training program in 2017 is $3,600. Tuition covers approximately 270 contact hours including classes, hands-on experience, one-on-one consultations, farm visits and field trips. Printed curriculum materials are provided, as are the necessary machinery, tools and supplies for the activities.

There is no application fee, however full or partial payment for the program is required upon acceptance in order to secure a place in the session. Payment plans are available. If minimum payment is not made by the due date, the participant will lose their spot in the program and it may be offered to a wait-listed applicant. A 10% surcharge will be deducted from any refund of tuition after a student withdraws from the program. Once class has started, tuition is non-refundable.

Farm Academy students may make tuition payments via check, money order or credit card. Credit card payments are assessed a service charge of 2% of the transaction total. Credit card and e-check payments can be made here. Tuition is $3,600 and is not tax deductible. You may pay in full or submit up to three installment payments. To avoid the service charge, please use an alternate form of payment. Payments are due on the following schedule:

Payment 1: No later than January 22, 2017 - $1200
Payment 2: No later than April 15, 2017 - $1200
Payment 3: No later than July 1, 2017 - $1200
