Carrie Peterson

Northstate FARMS Leadership Coordinator

Carrie grew up in San Jose and went to Catholic school for 12 years. Although the school did not have an FFA program, Carrie participated in 4-H for 10 years. After high school, she attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, and graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness, with a concentration in Sales and Marketing. After college, Carrie relocated to the Dixon area and earned her single-subject credential in agriculture from U.C. Davis in 1997. Carrie then embarked on a career as a sales representative for a western clothing company, where she remained for the next 7 years, eventually moving to Southern California. Upon having her first child, Carrie left her sales job and she and her husband relocated to Northern California to be near family.

Although Carrie was staying home with her son, she taught a couple of classes per semester at Sierra College in the Agriculture Department. In the fall of 2009, Carrie joined the Center for Land-Based Learning and took over the Northstate FARMS Leadership Program. After having her second child, a daughter, Carrie also took a part-time teaching position at Woodland Community College. Carrie recently graduated with her Master's Degree in Agricultural Education from Chico State.
