Why the Central Valley Youth Employment Program is Needed


The unemployment rate for Americans ages 16-24 is double the total national unemployment rate (Center for Progress, 2013). That combined with a recent report released by Purdue University, funded by the USDA, showed a surplus of openings for recent graduates in agriculture and related fields.

The Central Valley Youth Employment Incubator Program will train 48 participants to help fill the gaps in many unemployment issues. The outcome of this program will enhance the availability of skilled employees while serving to increase the economic health of the communities targeted by this program.
