For Teachers

Programs

Teachers seeking out enriching experiences for their students can explore these programs offered by Center for Land Based Learning. Help your students grow, gain knowledge and connect with the earth around them.

Youth

Farms Program

The Farming, Agriculture and Resource Management for Sustainability program exposes urban, suburban and rural high schoolers to innovative, hands-on experiences at working farms, agribusinesses and in higher education.

SLEWS Program

The Student and Landowner Education and Watershed Stewardship Program encourages high-school students to dig into habitat restoration through real projects on farms, ranches and open spaces. Hands-in-the-dirt experiences bring science to life and stimulate environmental stewardship by connecting youth to real, tangible solutions for big problems like climate change and habitat loss.

Caring For Watersheds Program

Youth across California are turning their environmental ideas into solutions through the Caring for Our Watersheds proposal writing contest, which challenges middle and high school students to generate creative ways to protect and preserve their environment. This joint program of the Center for Land-Based Learning and Nutrien awards more than $27,000 in prize and implementation money to winning proposals.

I’m a high-school teacher and want to register my class.

Participation in SLEWS is dependent on the availability of projects within your region. To learn more about the program structure check out our flyer and student recruitment presentation. We prioritize Title I schools and request all schools pay a $900 participation fee to guarantee involvement in our programming. Financial assistance may be available upon request. To find out if there is availability near you send us an email detailing your county, school name, and class subject.
