Soph joins CLBL’s Community Food Program as our Farm and Market Assistant. Soph grew up in and around Sacramento and is very excited to be farming in West Sacramento. They’ve been passionate about food and farming since they started spending time on the high school farm and did a “senior project” on food justice. Soph got a degree in Environmental Studies (and a minor in Spanish) at Mills College in Oakland. Soph has worked at Cloverleaf Farm, which is primarily a stonefruit orchard, for several years after graduation. They’ve also participated in many direct actions to protect forests in California from logging, which was very fulfilling. You’ll find Soph swimming in the river in the summer, drawing, knitting, napping, maybe tabling at a zine fair or two, baking, biking, and practicing Spanish.
