SLEWS Academy
The SLEWS Academy trains education and natural resource practitioners in the SLEWS Program model.
Since 2014, the SLEWS Academy has trained 23 individuals representing 10 organizations in the SLEWS model.
These organizations are engaging local high school students from their region in habitat restoration and
education at 5 different project sites from Colusa to San Bernardino counties. Combined with the 8 projects
that SLEWS Legacy funds are helping to support in the Sacramento region, we are able to provide hands-on learning
experiences on farms, ranches and open spaces for more than 500 students this year.
The SLEWS Academy consists of a three-day Intensive Training, six Monthly Sessions, and year of Individual Program Support.
Participants in the SLEWS Academy will have access to the SLEWS Network, an ongoing opportunity to transmit knowledge and share new resources with a community of Center for Land Based Learning's certified practitioners.
