Julia Thomas

Development & Communications Manager

Julia Thomas joined CLBL as the Development and Communications Manager in the summer of 2022.

Julia has been a champion of small farms for over 20 years and loves connecting people to where their food comes from. She spent 15 years at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op sharing the stories of the people behind our food and creating educational programs for all ages.

Although she graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies, Julia’s post-college education has been much more rewarding. A summer spent on the UC Davis Student Farm brought her to the Sacramento Valley and put her on the path that she continues to travel to this day.

Inspired by the ways that agriculture can work in partnership with nature, rather than against it, Julia has been studying Field Ecology at Sacramento City College for the past few years. There she has developed a passion for insects, birds and other wildlife. Julia is excited to be a part of CLBL because it beautifully blends agriculture and environmental stewardship.

Julia is now planted in the Capay Valley town of Rumsey, where she has a micro farm called the Rinky Dink Ranch. She gets excited every time she sees a Monarch caterpillar on one of the farm’s many patches of milkweed!
