Morgan is an educator and learner who believes that education and youth are two of the most powerful forces on earth. After 13 years of teaching, she knows that if an education can meet a student’s holistic needs, celebrate their unique strengths, challenge their growth, and connect them to their communities, youth become a force of change. As the Manager of CLBL’s Urban Ag Internship Program since 2021, Morgan has shaped the program to do just that.
Morgan received her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Teaching at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY. Over the last decade, she’s had the opportunity to teach and learn from an incredible array of students across multiple non-traditional educational settings, centering her approach around social-justice-informed curriculum, restorative justice practices, student leadership opportunities, and social and emotional learning.
While her passion for education has been constant, Morgan’s love for agriculture was a bit of a late bloomer. Though she grew up helping out on her dad’s regenerative beef farm in NY, it wasn’t until after college that she came to understand the true peace and fulfillment that growing from the Earth brings. Since then, she’s dedicated endless hours working in her family’s fruit orchards, building her own edible gardens, and starting multiple gardening programs at her previous places of work. In her most recent personal ag venture, Morgan spent 6 months WWOOFing (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) on farms while living in New Zealand Aotearoa, including an ecolodge and vineyard, a macadamia nut farm, a self-sustainable community, and a sustainable educational farm. Morgan has deeply loved the opportunity to unite her passion for education, agriculture, and holistic student growth at CLBL and feels inspired by her students every day. When not on the job, you can find Morgan adventuring in the woods with her beloved dog Nellie, puttering around her backyard gardens, reading in the sun, enjoying laughs with loved ones, and soaking in live music.
