How long is the CSA season?
The 2019 season is 20 weeks: June 18th through October 29th.

Can I choose what goes in my box?
One of the beautiful things about being a member of a community supported agriculture program is that you only eat what is in season and being grown by your local farmers. Members do not have the option to create their boxes but we promise to provide you with esy to use varieties and maybe one unfamiliar item.

Is it all organic?
Our farmers are very small beginning farmers growing on leased land throughout West Sacramento, Davis and Winters. The land is not certified organic but all farms grow using organic methods meaning no chemical fertilizers, herbicides or non-organic pesticides are used in growing your produce. Many of our farmers grow using methods well above organic certification. Inputs include compost, organic balanced fertilizer, coffee grounds, and other natural products. Since our farmers grow at such small scales most work is done entirely by hand meaning we hardly use any fuel making our growing process incredibly friendly to the environment.

To be as environmentally friendly as possible we do not use disposable boxes. Members must come with their own bags and empty the content of their crates into their bags to take home. Each crate has a plastic liner which you can easily lift out and take with you leaving the crate behind. Or have 5 or more folks you know join and we will deliver those boxes anywhere, your office, your home, your business! Minimum of 5 boxes at each delivery location.

Can I send a friend, neighbor or family member to pick up my box?
Absolutely, YES! please send anyone you like to pick up your box for you.

Can I pick up my box at a different time from my scheduled pickup?
Unfortunately, no. Our single person staff who operates the CSA cannot physically accommodate changes. We apologize for our capacity at this time. Consider having a neighbor or friend pick up for you.

What if I forget or can not make it to pick up my box?
You will receive a weekly newsletter and email reminder either day of or a few days before reminding you to pick up your box. As we purchase the produce directly from our beginning farmers to assemble your boxes we can not refund folks for missed pick ups as the produce has already been harvested, washed, packed and purchased from the farmer.

Can I cancel if going on vacation?
With one month’s written notice you may put your subscription on hold for up to two weeks. Without written requests and approval confirmation all boxes that are not picked up will be charged to the customer and donated to the food bank or a family in need.

Can I cancel if I find the box does not work for me?
We ask that members stay for the duration of their pay cycle. If you pay ½ season we request you commit to ½ season. If you pay in full we request you stay the full season. If you are truly unsatisfied and wish to cancel, you can do so for a $50 cancellation fee.

When will I be charged?
The membership fee* is charged when you sign up. You will be billed for the boxes based on your selected plan. In most cases members pay for the season in full when they sign up. Alternatively you may make two payments, one at sign up and one mid-season (this is an automatically scheduled payment).

*There is a one time, non-refundable CSA membership fee.
